Born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1956. In 1974 until 1977, Baechler attended the Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore. From 1978-79 he attended the Academy of Fine Arts, "Staedelschule" in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Today he lives and works in New York City.
